The Glory Due His Name

 

Message Scripture:

“Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” – 1 Chronicles 16:29 (KJV)

Introduction:

Greetings Everyone! I am excited to let y’all know that I’m going to return to using Evernote for a brand new devotional the Lord gave me the name for a while ago, and now has given me the first message for this devotional. I will endeavor to keep these devotionals to be short, quick reads that will give you something to think about. As always with everything I start I hope that these messages will encourage, inspire, and challenge. I also always believe that when the Lord gives me a message that He’ll also give my readers ears to hear, and hearts that will be receptive and respond to whatever He speaks through these messages.

The Glory Due His Name:

As we gather to worship the Lord this weekend let’s remember that we’re not in church to watch the worship band perform, but we’re there to give God the praise and worship that is due to His name. We all know that we’re created by God and for God and to bring Him praise and glory. The Bible says that if enough people won’t worship Him that He’ll cause the rocks to cry out in our place, and I don’t know about you…but I have made a decision in my heart that goes along the lines of the old gospel song that says there ain’t no rock that’s gonna cry out in my place.

So, as we gather this morning if you are able, and the worship band starts to play…instead of sitting or standing there like a bump on a log…why not try giving God the glory that is due to His name? Worshiping God is one of those things we were created to do, and when we do that the Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people. That means worship is a means for us to draw near to God, and the Bible says that if we draw near to Him that He will draw near to us.

Let’s Pray:

Heavenly Father, You are our magnificent God and Your name is great in all the earth. You spoke the worlds into being and stretched out the heavens by the might of Your great power. You have established Your strength from everlasting to everlasting and the heavens are the work of Your fingers. You looked down in mercy and grace on the children of men and sent the eternal Son of Your love to visit us and redeem us. We rejoice in Your gracious love and great compassion and we joy in the God of our Salvation. We sing Your praises for ever and ever for You alone are worthy to be praised and worshiped. How excellent is Your wonderful name in all the earth and how majestic are the works of Your hand – I will lift up our voices to proclaim You are the Lord and God of my Salvation and I delight to sing praises to Your holy name and to worship at Your feet. Praise the Lord oh my soul for all the many blessings You have poured out onto all those that love You, Praise the Lord forever and ever, in Jesus name I pray, Amen

In Closing:
I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t want to be in any house of God that doesn’t have His presence in it. When the disciples gathered and worshiped in the Upper Room before Pentecost I can’t imagine them sitting there like bumps on a log twiddling their thumbs waiting for the promise of the Holy Ghost to come. No, the Bible says they were gathered together in one accord, and when the presence of God showed up it turned their entire world upside down.

I often find myself saying that if we want an Acts 2 church we have to do what they did to get it. Some of the greatest church services I’ve been in is when we’re all so caught up in worshiping God that He shows up and does so many things that the preacher didn’t even have to preach a sermon…there was altar call after altar call, people were healed, set free, delivered, and filled with the Holy Ghost.
